Why is assetref for a newly issued asset null? [closed]

Immediately after issuing a new asset, I do listassets. The assetref is null. Why? After using it in a transaction, the asset gets an assetref.

The assetref is a reference to the position of the asset issuance transaction in the blockchain, so an asset only receives an assetref, and can therefore only be transferred, once that issuance transaction has been confirmed (using the default settings, a matter of a few seconds).
