More than one address in a node (GETNEWADDRESS)

Question

With the command, GETNEWADDRESS, a new address is created for a node. Is it not expected that a node has one active address? Why multiple addresses in one node?

There are many possible reasons, such as separate balances of assets between different accounts.

In any event, since the blockchain is permissioned, a node cannot do anything with additional addresses, unless it has been permitted to do so. So it's just a matter of local node state until permissions are granted to the new address.
