The spec of Wallet Address

+1 vote
Dear Sir or Madam

This is Shin Yoshida with Sivira in Japan. We are developing a service using Multichain.

I am writing because I wolud like to know the specific of Wallet Address of Multichain. It seems slightly differnet from that of Bitcoin.

After decoding from base58, the wallet address will be 27 bytes string. I find the rule of the first 23 bytes. They are 20 bytes hash of public key and const 3 bytes. What is the last 4 bytes? It seems hash of something. Wolud you mind tell me the spec?

We are going to release the service in a couple of months, and planning to publish that the service use Multichain in backend. So we need accurate info mation as much as possible.

Best Regards,
Shin Yoshida

Hi Shin, thanks for your question. The MultiChain address format is slightly different from bitcoin's because we allow for more version bytes (though you can make bitcoin-compatible addresses if you like). This is all covered in detail here:

Let us know if you have any more questions - thank you.
