What's the best way to bring colleagues' external servers running MC into the private network?

There are several of us evaluating MC utilizing Ubuntu VM's in the cloud. I want to be able to link all of our servers together so that we can expand our learning activities to include nodes over the internet. I suppose this is more of a networking question, but I am hitting a wall on the best approach? VPN or bust? Thanks...

It's hard to give much of an answer without knowing your setup, but I'd suggest the simplest approach is to open your firewall to incoming connections on the default-rpc-port which is set up in your blockchain parameters. Then these external nodes should be able to connect to the internal nodes in the usual way.

Thank you, that does solve it for me. I wasn't sure that using the public DNS name (and not an internal IP) in the multichaind connect string would work, but opening up that port to the IP in question did the trick.I was overthinking it, frankly, and thinking that I needed to do something more sophisticated with the cloud provider network configuration.
