Couldn't Connect to Seed Node

+2 votes
I have set up multichain on two Windows 7 VMs.

I successfully multichaind the chain on one VM, but when I try to connect to it from the second VM, I get a an error.

'Error: couldn't connect to the seed node 10.0.2.15 on port 7405 - please check multichaind is running at that address and that your firewall settings allow incoming connections.

I know that my host VM is running, and that the address is correct. I've tried connecting with the firewalls for both VMs off, but I still get the same error.

If MultiChain is running inside a VM it doesn't necessarily know how its IP address for access outside that VM. Please consult your VM's documentation about this. You can run a basic test by using telnet to connect to the IP address and port number, and seeing if you get a connection. If not, that's not the right IP / port.
