How to achieve housekeeping in blockchain, if possible.

Hi,

Have a query regarding the basic architecture of the blockchain.

As we keep on using the blockchain over a period, the data keeps on increasing. A new node that wants to connect have to first download all the chain data before it can start to function.

So in blockchains, is there a way to archive old data?

In general there is a possibility of pruning old blocks in blockchains, but this is not yet implemented in MultiChain. It does however prevent new nodes from verifying the entire blockchain from the start.
